Funeral services for Dolores Carrasco Ortiz (Lolo), 82, of Woodrow were at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at San Ramon Catholic Church in Woodrow with Father Nelson Diaz officiating.
Rosary was on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial was at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Lolo died on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center and joined his Lord and Savior shortly after. He was born on August 16, 1924 in El Mulato , Chihuahua , Mexico to Dolores and Isabel Ortiz. He married Rita Carrasco on February 5, 1948 in Ojinaga , Chihuahua , Mexico . She died on February 8, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his brothers: Jesus, Gregorio, Ernesto and his sister: Magdalena Jacobo.
Lolo immigrated into the United States in Nov. 1957 and became a U. S. Citizen on Dec. 4, 1995. He always had a great sense of humor and enjoyed his family and relatives. He retired from Plains Cotton Coop in 1986. He was an active member of San Ramon parish. He was a volunteer for the South Plains Food Bank until 2004.
Survivors include his son: Noe (Barbara) of Oxford, Pa; his daughters: MariaIsabel Gabriel of Lubbock, Tx, Sylvia Garcia (Louis) of Ceder Park, Tx, Aida Sustiati (Jimmy) of McKinney, Tx, Olga Fallas (Jim) of Lubbock, Tx. and Dolores Escobedo (Andy) of Albuquerque, NM; one sister: Micaela Aranda of Lake Arthur, NM; and a half-brother: Ramon Montoya of Mexico.
He had 17 grandchildren and (spouses): Kris Ortiz (Stacy), Kari Ortiz Quinones, John Gabriel (Maggie), Michael Gabriel (Danielle), Estrella Mejia, Jonathon Mejia, Mercedes Ordones, Isreal Cortez, Cecelia Cortez, Ruben Cortez, Monica Ruiz, Maverick Sustiati, Justin Sustiati, Veronica (Gerald) Garcia, and Adrian Riojas.
He had 9 great grandchildren: Zoe Rita Ortiz, Andre Ortiz Quinones, Nichole Gabriel, Zachary Gabriel, Czar Cortez, Christian Cortez, Joe Ruiz, Zane Ruiz, and Olivia Garcia.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren: John Gabriel, Michael Gabriel, Adrian Riojas, Maverick Sustiati, Justin Sustiati, Kris Ortiz, Jonathon Mejia, and Gerald Garcia.
