Funeral services for Waylon Fields, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Benny Goss of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church in Littlefield officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Fields died at 3:12 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2001, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Chalk in Cottle County, the son of the late Brady and Alba Fields. He attended schools in Paducah and moved to Littlefield in 1941 and graduated from Littlefield High School in 1953. He served with the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 in Germany and after returning home, he worked for the Texas Highway Department and Ponca Wholesale. He moved to Plainview in 1961 and worked for Garrison Furniture and Gebo´s. In 1964 he went to work for Best Fertilizer/Occidental Chemical, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Arch Keys Masonic Lodge and Plainview Masonic Lodge 709 and was past Worshipful Master of both lodges. He was a Baptist deacon and an active volunteer at the Hale County Senior Citizens Center.

On Aug. 9, 1958, he married Helen Feagley in Littlefield.

Survivors include his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Micheal and Jeni Fields of Lubbock; one daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Jim Bob Sims of Millbrook, Ala.; one sister, Joyce Dewees of Littlefield; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Milam, Louis, Dewey Joe and Dale Fields, are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to the Hale County Senior Citizens Center.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
