Longview, TX - Services for Billy Glen Cranford, Sr., 73, of Longview were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2002, at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Longview with Billy Fortune of Hebron Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was at Lakeview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home.
He died Tuesday, November 19, 2002.
He was born January 8, 1929, in Marshall, Texas and had been a resident of Longview since 1968. He worked for AT&T for 34 years before retiring. He served in the Korean War and also was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was a reserve officer with the Dallas Police Department and later the Gregg County Sheriff's Department. He opened his own security company, BG Security Patrol Services in 1988.
He married Paula Mae Powell June 12, 1954 in Longview, Texas.
Survivors include his wife of Longview, a brother, Bruce of Frederick, MD.; three sisters, Pearl Gibson of Everett, Wash., Marie Nagel of Longview and Joann Messner of Del City, Okla.; a son, Glen Cranford of Lubbock, TX.; two daughters, Cookie Lowe (Stephen) of Athens, TX., and Stefanie Cranford (Ilene) of Roanoke, TX.; four grandchildren, Pete Hayes of Plano, Michael Gabriel of Lubbock, TX., Brandi Pither of Henderson, TX., and Samantha Fortune of Tyler, TX.; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary Hayes of Plano, Nichole Gabriel of Lubbock, and Patrick Pither of Henderson.
He is pre-deceased by four brothers, Charles Ray, Jake, Doug and James.
The family received friends at the funeral home on November 21, 2002.
A reception followed services at the funeral home.
